A man has been shot dead in Dublin as the city grapples with ongoing gang violence.
The man was found lying outside the gate of a house in Clondalkin, about seven miles west of the city centre just after 2.15pm on Friday.
Gardai confirmed to Sky News that the victim was David Lynch, 42.
He died at the scene.
A few minutes later, a Peugeot van was found on fire in the same area and a firearm was found nearby.
A silver Toyota Corolla was also found on fire a few miles away in Lucan.
Officers are treating the three incidents as being linked and have asked for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on Saturday and officers have sealed off the scene of the shooting as they continue to investigate.
Superintendent Paul Dolan told the Irish Sun that the killing had been a “cold, callous crime…on a busy day with a man going about his business in a residential area with a vehicle abandoned in the vicinity of a school”.
The news comes as Dublin grapples with continued gang violence which has killed more than a dozen people in the past few years.
Mr Lynch’s death may be related to this feud, according to Irish media, although police would not confirm this.
